The Allure of Romeo and Juliet
by Jess Michaels
Hi everyone and a big thanks to Stella for having me back again! If you don’t know who I am, I am Jess Michaels and I write erotic historical romance set in the Regency period. My latest, , was just released by Samhain Publishing on July 2, so I’m still in the deep waters of a new release. One I’m especially excited about because it contains a couple of themes I’ve always wanted to explore.
Romeo and Juliet… and a kidnapping!
Who doesn’t love the whole idea of warring families, torn apart by battle, whose children find love against all odds? There’s something so romantic about the idea that a hero and heroine would have been raised to hate each other (which my Christian and Ava were most definitely raised to do) and yet something sparks between them anyway.
In my version of the classic tale, it’s a tragedy that is the catalyst for passion and love. Christian’s sister is killed in an accident after she and Ava’s brother run away to elope together. He blames her brother and wants him to suffer, to feel the same keen loss of a sister. So he kidnaps Ava. Not only will she be ruined by this act, but her brother will not be certain, for a very long time, if she is alive or dead.
But Ava is not a shrinking type of Juliet. After years of enduring the consequences of the war between her families, she puts herself on a mission of peace and will use any means necessary to find it. Even her body, her soul and her heart.
Of course, Shakespeare ended his tale of Capulets and Montagues with suicide… but I don’t think I’ll be giving anything away when I say that my tale, as a romance, will end a little better. A lot better. How that happens, I will leave it to you to buy, read and find out, but I promise you it will be a very sexy journey, indeed.

Book #1 in the Pleasure Wars series
An eye for an eye, a sin for a sin…
Amid all the lies and scandals that fuel Society’s gossip mill, one truth has stood out: House Rothcastle and House Windbury have always hated each other.
Lady Ava Windbury prays the feud will someday end, to no avail. One dreadful night, her brother accidentally causes the death of Christian Rothcastle’s sister, a tragedy that leaves both men maimed.
Consumed by grief, Christian makes a grim decision. He will kidnap Lady Ava so that her family will feel the pain of loss as keenly as he feels the loss of his own sister. But once he has Ava in his clutches, desire takes unexpected hold. Even more surprising, she willingly surrenders to his every sexual whim—after haggling over the terms of giving up her virginity.
Too late, he realizes she is using her body for peace, not war. But just as their affair of revenges turns into an affair of the heart, the past rears its ugly head to take matters into its own hands…
Product Warnings: This book contains scenes of erotic seduction, sexual revenge and the healing power of love.
